April’s Promise of Poetry–National Poetry Month

I love the approach of April, the year’s promise of poetry, recognized annually as National Poetry Month. As a multi-genre author, I read and write poetry all year long, but having a whole month to celebrate this one special craft is something I look forward to. It’s also a time to invite others to enjoy a writing style they may not experience regularly.

I will post my Poetry Month schedule below, and I encourage YOU to comment with yours, if you will also be reading poetry anywhere throughout the month. If not, feel free to share a favorite poem or poet of yours! Let’s sprinkle poetry everywhere this coming month!

Here’s a tiny poem for you!

Frog Song

Frog song out my window,

open to let in the breeze.

April flurries lift away

all winter caution,

for Spring has latched

her long green fingers,

caressed my soul with hope,

for a fresh new start.

Happy April—Happy Spring—and Happy Poetry Month!

Write in every pocket you can find,

Celaine Charles
