I’m two scenes into a new story idea, and I can’t wipe the grin off my face. There are still plot twists to create and character arcs to build but ringing in 2020 with a novel writing goal seems like a decade-worthy decision.
It’s also a fresh new year for my blog, Steps In Between. The first Sunday of every month I typically pull your attention to my Wednesday Whims of Poetry page (https://stepsinbetween.com/poetry/). But I’m making a few personal changes.
With the querying of one book, the writing of the second in the same series, and this new story idea that refuses to wait, I am finding less and less time to keep all my writing straight. I’m rarely sending poetry out to journals to be accepted or rejected or anything…short of my own blog. And if you know me even a little bit, you know I’m a poet first!
So, I’m backing off a bit. Not a lot, just a little. I’m not going anywhere – I wouldn’t do that to my faithful readers. However, I’ve decided to slow down my blog posts in order to maximize my creativity. I will post an article every other week, with some poetry in between. All of it still within the focus I’ve held since day one: sharing my writing journey with you!

Art: Woman Writing a Letter, by Charles Kaufman
My new posting schedule will look something like this:
Week 1 in a month: Post a poem
Week 2 in a month: Post an article
Week 3 in a month: Post a poem or share some writing samples, maybe writing advice…
Week 4 in a month: Post an Interview or an article
Week 5 in a month: A day off (but surely I’m still writing)😊
Poetry Time
Now, since it’s the first Sunday of a fresh new month (in a fresh new year, of a fresh new decade), I want to share a poem. Please peek at my Wednesday Whims of Poetry page as well… https://stepsinbetween.com/poetry/
But here’s a little something special from me to you!
January Inspiration
Sometimes stepping up and onward
means
dawdling a little behind.
Reaching for that silver star
implies
a little time in reverie.
Sparks ignite open hearts
with
attention to the quiet…
songs found in January winds
once
lost along the past.

My hopes and wishes and prayers and positive energy go out to my readers. May all your dreams and revelations and resolutions come true. Let’s make it happen this year. Stay true!
Happy Writing (because at least you’re writing),
