Writing Renovation Celebration

September marks my three-year anniversary with my writing blog, Steps In Between. I am grateful for my readers, encouraged in my progress as a writer, and elated for the new year ahead.

First on the list: a remodel!

Maybe I’ve been watching too much HGTV this summer, but it’s time to update and renew. I am going to be reworking some of my blog and linking it to my brand-new website that’s coming soon, thanks to designer, Anna Vowels (https://annavowels.work). Hopefully this new facelift will push me forward in my career as an author.

This process will take some time, but I’ve got my safety glasses on, and cannot wait!

More specifically, Wednesday Whims of Poetry page will receive some extensive work. It’s far too long, for one thing. Three years of weekly poetry on one page is exhausting. I’ve also come to this conclusion after WordPress updated their format, causing me to lose every line break in every poem I’ve ever posted. This was maddening and saddening (is that a word?), thus forcing my hand. But change is good, right?

If you could renovate something in your writing life, what would it be?

On a positive spin, I have a new book coming, a new website emerging, and I am thrilled to take this next step in my journey as an author.

Renovation Goals:

  1. Creating my author website!
  2. More tips to help and connect with writers out there. I’ve learned a lot on this journey of writing, submitting, getting rejected, taking classes, finding a critique group, revising, finding an editor, resubmitting, being accepted by a publishing house, more editing, and finally anticipating the launch of my book in 2021…therefore I want to share my journey with others. That was the point and passion of this blog to begin with, a promise to my readers and myself, and I will carry through.
  3. Continued Sunday posts about my journey in writing fiction and poetry (see #2), and hosting interviews through CC’s Interview Series.
  4. My Wednesday Whims of poetry page is changing, and will now come as Wednesday posts, one poem at a time.
  5. Shorter, quicker Sunday posts because we’re all busy and need our content as quickly as possible…so we can get back to writing.

There’s a lot to look forward to in my little renovation journey. Won’t you join me?

Again, what kinds of things would you renovate in your writing life?

Happy writing (because at least you’re writing),

  1. My renovation project is getting back into Same Moon Shining, my book in progress, and strengthening the settings for each story within a story that exists in it. I really appreciate your clear thinking. It helps me.
